Jeep Cherokee XJ
The owner of this Jeep Cherokee XJ was ready for a new set of wheels and tires. In the true spirit of an off-road enthusiast, he has been slowly building this Jeep in his driveway, sourcing parts from here or there. We love working on newer vehicles but the nostalgia that comes along with working on an XJ makes it more fun and special.
A common trend that we see too often these days is people putting their dollars toward a nice set of wheels while choosing a less than ideal tire. We always recommend putting your money into a quality tire but we understand that not everyone’s budget allows for that. A lesser quality tire will not only perform poorly in certain driving conditions but it will likely wear faster than a better quality tire as well. Ok, that’s enough of our tire PSA.
Our customer definitely made his tire choice a priority by choosing the Cooper Discoverer STT Pro in a 35×12.50 and wrapped them around a set of Rough Country Steel Wheels in a 15×10 with a -39 offset. The tires offer an aggressive tread pattern while still delivering a somewhat mild mannered on-road experience. And the steelies are the perfect no frills wheel for someone who spends their weekend on the trails and not at a car show.
While we had the Jeep at our shop, we also added Rough Country Control Arm Drop Brackets and a Rough Country Steering Stabilizer bolted to the CavFab HD Crossover Steering.
